Pinot Blanc is one of the traditional white grape varieties of Europe and has been documented since the 14th century. In Germany, the grape variety is known as Weißburgunder or Weißer Burgunder, internationally under the name Pinot Bianco.
Typical Pinot Blanc wines are elegant, finely fruity white wines with a clear structure and moderate acidity. They appear both powerful and well-balanced and are regarded as versatile food companions.
Characteristic fruit notes often recall honeydew melon, apple or apricot. Thanks to their restrained aromatics, Pinot Blanc wines integrate harmoniously into many culinary combinations.
We vinify our Pinot Blanc as a dry white wine. This Burgundy type shows an elegant structure, delicate fruit and a pleasantly balanced acidity.
Our Pinot Blanc sparkling wine brut also contains virtually no residual sweetness and is stylistically reminiscent of a finely fruity Champagne.
Pinot Blanc wines and sparkling wines pair particularly well with fish and seafood, poultry as well as refined vegetarian dishes.
Our Pinot Blanc vines grow in excellent south-eastern exposures at the Niederflörsheimer Goldberg in the Rheinhessen part of the estate. On the Palatinate side they are planted on a sunny south-facing slope at the Niefernheimer Schnepfenflug overlooking the Zellertal.
These warm, deep soils allow reliable ripening and support the development of the variety’s typical elegance and fruit structure.
Pinot Blanc belongs to the large Burgundy family. It developed as a light bud mutation of Pinot Gris, which in turn is a mutation of Pinot Noir.
Today Pinot Blanc is one of the internationally widespread quality grape varieties and is cultivated in many European wine regions.
Pinot Blanc places high demands on soil and climate. It thrives particularly well in warm, deep and nutrient-rich soils as well as in exposed, dry-warm sites.
The variety requires a comparatively long ripening period during which high must weights can be achieved. The golden-yellow, thin-skinned berries grow in compact clusters.
They produce structured, elegant white wines with delicate fruit and good ageing potential.

Fuchs Pinot Blanc wines show a moderately pronounced, pleasantly balanced acidity. This gives the wines a harmonious, rounded character and makes them very versatile to enjoy.
Typical are delicate fruit notes such as apple, honeydew melon or apricot combined with a clear, elegant structure. Fuchs Pinot Blanc wines taste balanced, finely fruity and stylistically rather restrained.
Both grape varieties belong to the Burgundy family but differ in style. Fuchs Pinot Blanc shows a somewhat slimmer, more elegant structure, while Pinot Gris tastes fuller and more powerful.
Pinot Blanc can be vinified in different styles. At Weingut Fuchs it is produced as a dry white wine.
Pinot Blanc is a very versatile food companion. It pairs particularly well with fish and seafood, poultry, delicate vegetable dishes as well as light cuisine and mild sauces.
